Londoners looking to realise their dream of living in a flat overlooking Hyde Park can now buy a property in a Victorian-style new build - the immediate catch is prices start at a mind- boggling £3 million so the development is clearly targeted at a particular market out of reach for the vast majority of Londoners. Located on Bayswater Road, the restored 1893 building comprises 15 apartments with two to three bedrooms in addition to a penthouse.
The modern flats, with spacious open-plan living and ceilings more than three metres high, were all designed by Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab. Although the interior has purposefully been arranged to mimic the feel of a seven star hotel, the developer has maintained and restored the original façade of the building, which dates back to the 19th century. All other buildings on Bayswater Road were bombed in the Second World War and were rebuilt in the 1960s.
Four floors are located in the restored section of the building while the newly built complex contains five. All apartments are officially on the market with prices for the two bedroom apartments standing at a minimum of £3 million. The penthouse, however, is going for an eye-watering starting price of £11 million.
Several of the flats have an outdoor entertaining space with garden terraces overlooking Hyde Park. CEO Elie Saab Jr said the famous London park was central to meeting the demands of his mature clientele. He said: “London has always been a key city for ELIE SAAB, because of the presence of a passionate and demanding international clientele. Hyde Park responds to a specific demand from a mature clientele, looking for a new concept of luxury.
"We enter the London market, with our lifestyle proposal applied to interior design, which has its roots in our culture, in the values that have made the brand popular worldwide.
Being here today represents an essential moment in the process of exploring worlds other
than fashion."
